Would be SUPER helpful to have a notifications system in the Admin section of the website so I can be informed quickly about new job postings and talk proposals as soon as I log in.

You mean an email notification?

More like in the top bar.

Here is a snippet I forked and modified slightly as an example. It's not the final result, just an example.
