Just revisiting your project and noticed the tests.py.

Would you be open to a PR for changing them to use https://github.com/robwhitby/shakedown?

I want to give it a try and see if gets the tests shorter and maybe more readable.

That's an awesome little library, would be interesting to see how it makes the tests simpler!
