Does Zeus (get_current_cpu_index()) work at windows 11?

Hi, trying to use get_current_cpu_index() at windows 11, it seems that the code is not suited for windows?

Hi @andife! Unfortunately, that particular function is only supported on Linux. It depends on procfs (the /proc/2140/state thing).

Apart from that, NVML (the NVIDIA-provided GPU management library we use to get power/energy measurements) supports the following platforms: https://docs.nvidia.com/deploy/nvml-api/nvml-api-reference.html
Windows 11 is not exactly on the list, but I'd still give it a try.
The dev team does not own a Windows machine at the moment, so it's a bit challenging for us to ensure end-to-end compatibility. But we'd be happy to try to walk through the process with you if things don't work.

I think I will have a look if wsl2 could be a solution? What are your experiences?

It's been a long time I've done anything on a Windows machine honestly, including WSL2. CUDA does seem to be supported on WSL2, but they say some NVML queries are not supported without really listing what is supported and what is not (https://docs.nvidia.com/cuda/wsl-user-guide/index.html#features-not-yet-supported). If this includes the power and/or energy APIs, Zeus won't be able to measure energy inside WSL2.

My focus would have been cpu, but that doesn't seem to work out-of-box via wsl either microsoft/WSL#10160 ?) . Will have to grab a Linux machine for it now after all.

I see yeah, it does seem like WSL does not support RAPL. But instead I found this: https://github.com/intel/pcm. It seems to support Intel CPU power/energy metrics. We'll look into this to see if we can add support.
