Templates: Issue with custom field of type date

I've created a template in Keepass (Plugin: Entry Templates for KeePass 8.0) with custom fields of type date.

Whenever I'm adding a new entry of that template, I see that the default value of the date field is the current date.
I don't see any option to leave the date field empty instead of the default current date.

The same happens with an existing entry were no value was entered into the date field before,
it always defaults to the current date, which can be confusing identify the date value.

Is there any workaround or options for that behaviour?
