[com.discovery.dplay] Discovery+ will not play any video on Android TV #2765
Comments
Hi, I would recommend trying to launch the app with Companion disabled. Maybe its related to my issue but for me its not DRM. else try to downgrade to a older version of the Discovery that will work. |
I have tried the first suggestion to launch the app with MicroG Companion disabled but unfortunately it hasn't worked. What is the safest way to download old versions of apps? I can't see how to do it using Aurora store (my main app resource) and downloading APKs from websites online is a complete minefield. Do you have any suggestions? Kind regards Josh |
This site is completely safe: https://www.apkmirror.com/ |
Aurora store has manual download, check apkmirror archive and find the version number. If you remember the last time it worked, pick that version. |
Affected app
Name: [Discovery+]
Package id: [com.discovery.dplay]
Describe the bug
Discovery+ will not play any videos (whether it be a live show or on-demand), instead it loads for a few seconds then kicks my profile off and sends me back to the profile selection screen.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Expected behavior
I expect the video to play.
System
Android Version: [15]
Custom ROM: [LineageOS 22.1 microG wade]
microG
microG Core version: [0.3.6.244735]
microG Self-Check results: [All ticked]
Additional context
I have run some troubleshooting myself. I freshly installed LineageOS with full Google apps and can confirm that Discovery+ is fully working with that, which rules out LineageOS as the issue. Therefore, I am somewhat confident that the error is related to MicroG. I also ran the TV box with a raw installation of LineageOS (without Google apps or MicroG), and it wouldn't even open the Discovery+ app. I have a logcat from the device but am unsure of the best way to share it on GitHub.
