The firmware version registers need to be read and then checked against the proper software version. If there is a mismatch, the user should be alerted and prompted to update. This could be done automatically with deploy/configure, or it could be part of the updater on the web app. How should we handle this? Firmware should likely end up in the updater soon regardless

Related to #599 , as we'll be rewriting the updater.
