Wrong URL after applying multiple filter or changing sort orders

When changing the sorting several times or using multiple filters, new URL parameters are always appended:

Example Sort Order (MageSuite Demo):

• Go to https://demo.magesuite.io/brands/Wilson
• Select "Sort By: Product Name Ascending"
  • New URL is correct: https://demo.magesuite.io/brands/Wilson/?product_list_order=name&product_list_dir=asc
• Select "Sort By: Price - Descending"
  • New URL is messed up: https://demo.magesuite.io/brands/Wilson/product_list_order/name/product_list_dir/asc/?product_list_dir=desc&product_list_order=price

Example Filter (Not reproducable in the demo because too few articles are assigned to the brands. ):

• Go to https://domain.com/brands/Wilson
• Apply price filter:
  • New URL is correct: https://domain.com/brands/Wilson?price=0-11
• Apply another filter:
  • New URL is messed up: https://domain.com/brands/Wilson/price/0-11/?person=Firstname+Lastname&price=0-11

Can this be resolved?

PS: We had a similar problem in a custom module and could solve it by adding URL-Rewrites for each entity.
