Since v0.10.0 there's been a 'Check for Updates...' option for desktop that checks for newer versions. v0.11.0 was updated to run this check in the background on startup.

Currently the notification of a new version simply shows a link to the Github releases page to download it but it'd be more convenient to click a 'Update & Restart' button that downloads the latest version automatically.
