Graham Smith (Birmingham) is the existing WP1.4 lead and LSST:UK Commissioning Coordinator.

During Phase B the LSST subscription model changed to an in-kind model, which led to the UK to becoming partners in the Rubin Project. The UK’s in-kind proposal included a commissioning component that was accepted by the Rubin Project. This led to an expansion of Smith's responsibilities from the start of 2022. During commissioning (calendar years 2022 and 2023) the UK team will be “contractually obliged” to deliver specific tasks as fully integrated members of Rubin’s Systems Integration Test and Commissioning (SITCOM) team, with Smith formally responsible for the delivery of UK contributions by our team members. Smith will manage the UK’s delivery of commissioning contributions under the in-kind agreement with Rubin through to the end of Phase B.

In Phase B this is expected to run from 01/JAN/22 to 31/MAR/23.

This expansion of Smith's role was funded as part of the Autumn'21 Working Allowance bid.
