The preflight check doesn't validate the GitLab token scope. You can replicate if you use a token that doesn't have the permissions needed for kubefirst to run properly. I tried on k3d, but would assume it's the same issue on any clouds. I would also double-check GitHub, which I didn't test. May be worth checking the UI installation also.
