Disabling and enabling Vertical Tabs sets the default theme

I've set the dark theme on Vertical Tabs. If I disable Vertical Tabs and enable it again (from within the Firefox Add-on Manager), Vertical Tabs sets the theme to "default". I would expect the dark theme is being kept and re-applied when I enable Vertical Tabs.
