I know that It's in anime branch, and a lot of us think that it's hard to merge lad's branch and it's true, but I think it can be made easier way - i don't have enough knowledge about python yet, but if someone can show help me a litle with sickbeard source code, I can also help here. But what I'm trying to say:

  1. In anime-branch absolute numbering was the hardest part because it was calculating it inside the program, now thetvdb is giving absolute numbering on it's site, so I suppouse we can use those.
  2. For full anime support we need only absolute numbering + refreshed regexes - which are in lads work.

Why I'm so eagerly trying to find someone who can make it? Because anime branch is not updated anymore - we can't download TV shows now on this branch. So it would be great if someone could make new approach for this. I can provide my time, and help - but my programming skills are limited, that's why I'm asking here

I heart that adding XEM would do the trick.

Tried it but it's still need a lot of work, espacially on optimalization, when i tried it on my raspberry Pi it was really eating a lot of my cpu and memory, but tried it quite some time ago, and it doesn't have a good enough torrent support (really low on providers). (f.e. I can without any problems have xbmc+rtorrent+2xsickbeard(torrent+anime branches)+ couchpotato and it's working like a charm:)

Not sure if XEM is enough but it's a start. Someone hinted me some time ago to a fork with XEM, can look at it and see how easy or hard it is to extract and send PR for it but won't promise anything.

Oh XEM :P I thought you mean that I should try XDM:). XEM would be ok! But even TheTVDB have good enough absolute numbering f.e.
http://thetvdb.com/?tab=episode&seriesid=262094&seasonid=516460&id=4691283&lid=16
you can see this is S02E04 - absolute number 29
And really thank you for reply!! Hope you'll be able to do this:)
Best wishes

Not to sound like a kill joy... but I can't see myself or @junalmeida picking this up anytime soon , and when i say soon, i mean in the next 6months... we are working on the project in our spare time, and our personal lives take up alot of time... and lets face it, procrastination is the thief of time...

I'm not saying no... but I can't see alot of time being dedicated to this...

Anyway thanks for considering this ;) Will keep my attention on this issue then, if @schumi2004 will be able to help it would also be great:) I can try helping you guys as I can with lending my time, and can provide any knowledge about anime/regexes as I can.

Well, by all means , keep the ticket open if its going to be an active thread...you can always start a new branch or try integrate it with the torrentProviders branch if you don't break anything...

The best option is to make it as little changes as possible to normal branch (lad's anime branch is to complicated to be merged now, but if we focus on keeping it simple it could be merged in original sickbeard which would help a lot for every branch existed now;) (it's because torrentProviders branch can also die someday, like animebranch did and to make it constantly upgraded the best option would be to merge it in "original" one)

I doubt XEM would be a simple change

As I said we don't need XEM, few comments back:

I think this is the best way to deal with it. We use TheTVDB which is currently used, no calculations of episode number just one additional info from tvdb api.
