sudo dmesg | grep ch34x gitves the following :

[  199.366031] usbcore: registered new interface driver ch34x
[  199.366047] usbserial: USB Serial support registered for ch34x

I foloowed all steps for archlinux (all dependencies satisied)

Try to build from last but one commit after doing git clone within project directory:

git checkout 7ecf25bef17bef87e5d12e4c5f83cbb325a35ead

and try again after cleaning from latest steps

I also having this issue 7ecf25b didnt help neither did a6ad809. I just throw these devices out the arent working on windows 10 either. I ordered 3 of them

I think the short usb micro cables are the issue. I borrowed a friends micro lead as I only have usb c cables these days. It picks up on windows 10 now at least I dont have access to the linux machine right now but ill post and update. Im pretty sure this should fix the issues though Ill let you know though.
