SERVER CONFIGURATION
# sudo apt-get install ptpd
edit /etc/default/ptpd as root
add this configuration:
# /etc/default/ptpd
# Set to "yes" to actually start ptpd automatically
START_DAEMON=yes
# Add command line options for ptpd
PTPD_OPTS="-b eth0 -S -t"
restart ptpd
# sudo /etc/init.d/ptpd restart
Client configuration on Beaglebone
download package from http://sourceforge.net/projects/ptpd/files/
# wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/ptpd/ptpd/2.2.0/ptpd-2.2.0.tar.gz?r=http%3A%2F%2Fsourceforge.net%2Fprojects%2Fptpd%2F%3Fsource%3Ddlp&ts=1377246236&use_mirror=kent
extract and compile it
# ptpd2.0/src/make
run client code
# ./ptpd2 -b eth0 -g -y 0 -D -f /var/log/ptpd.log
Check log here: /var/log/ptpd.log.
Note:
The beaglebone will automatically execute the ptpd2 file at startup so the ptp2.0 folder should be on the same location as the program
