If you are reporting a bug, please include:
- Your operating system name and version.
- Any details about your local setup that might be helpful in troubleshooting.
- Detailed steps to reproduce the bug.

The Zammad API Client could always use more documentation, whether as part of the official Zammad API Client docs, in docstrings, or even on the web in blog posts, articles, and such.
To help with documentation, look in the docs folder. If you want to generate the documentation locally to see how it looks, you need to install sphinx
- Assuming you installed the dependencies with poetry install, you can run to generate the html files.
- $ python3 -m sphinx -T -E -b html -d docs/_build/doctrees -D language=en docs/ ./_readthedocs/html
- Navigate to the new _readthedocs/html folder and open index.html with a Browser to see a preview of the documentation.

- Keep the scope as narrow as possible, to make it easier to implement.

Ready to contribute? Here's how to set up zammad_py for local development.
Install poetry
$ pip3 install poetry flask8 sphinx
Fork the zammad_py repo on GitHub.
Clone your fork locally:
$ git clone [email protected]:your_name_here/zammad_py.git
This project uses Poetry (https://python-poetry.org/). Set up the projects dependencies like this:
$ pip3 install poetry $ cd zammad_py/ $ poetry install
Poetry will create a virtual environment under your home directory. You can see if that worked by running:
$ ls ~/.cache/pypoetry/virtualenvs/zammad-py*
Then activate the environment like this:
$ ~/.cache/pypoetry/virtualenvs/zammad-py*/bin/activate
Create a branch for local development:
$ git checkout -b name-of-your-bugfix-or-feature
Now you can make your changes locally.
When you're done making changes, check that your changes pass flake8 and the tests, including testing other Python versions with tox:
$ flake8 zammad_py tests $ py.test $ tox
To get flake8 and tox, just pip install them into your virtualenv.
Commit your changes and push your branch to GitHub:
$ git add . $ git commit -m "Your detailed description of your changes." $ git push origin name-of-your-bugfix-or-feature
Submit a pull request through the GitHub website.
Before you submit a pull request, check that it meets these guidelines:
- The pull request should include tests.
- If the pull request adds functionality, the docs should be updated. Put your new functionality into a function with a docstring, and add the feature to the list in README.rst.
- The pull request should work for Python >=3.8.1
To run a subset of tests:
$ py.test tests.test_zammad_py
