Insufficient permissions for device: user in plugdev group: are your udev rules wrong? #40

I basically get this error when I try to apply permissions:

Error: error: Insufficient permissions for device: user in plugdev group: are your udev rules wrong?

When I run id I can confirm that my user is in the plugdev group, I just need to set the udev rules?

Does your device have the the option "Disable permission Monitoring" or "USB Debugging (Security Settings)" under "Developer options"? If it does, can you try enabling it?
