it's the only mainland species they list that makes it even close in range. The other. C. miniatus Santa Catalina Island| and San Nicolas Island| and seems to be much smaller with recurved| thread-like cerci that we're not seeing here. Notably| so far this is the only record I've found of this species occurring north of Monterey County. Sandy habitat matches well. @leptonia| if you ever get a chance to photograph this again| it's the only mainland species they list that makes it even close in range. The other. C. miniatus 2

Nayarit where they are called jejenes). But the dragonflies usually (I would have said always) have them sucking fluids from the basal wing veins| not from the abdomen| so this is definitely unusual. I would say it was an old female M. ocellata. Notice they are at the joints| presumably piercing the intersegmental membranes| as they couldn't get through the chitin of the exoskeleton."""|182592| Nayarit 2
I found a number of specimens of Calystegia purpurata with sparse hairs essentially similar to your picture. Your plants are definitely C. purpurata. As for the wording of the TJM2 key not being included in the glossary. I would suggest 'glabrous or nearly so' to cover what we find. The Flora Project staff will likely contact the treatment author to get approval of this change so it can be included with the next TJM2 e-flora supplement."" Based on this clarification| I've revised my ID to C. purpurata ssp purpurata| and think we can safely consider this one closed.
