Previous versions of the application has had an option to set each series/movie to a specific playback setting:

• internal player
• internal player with other codec
• external player

However, recently (about a few update cycles ago maybe) the option has been removed. It was always incredibly helpful to have that on the items selection page to quickly toggle.

As it stands the process is as follows: go back to the jellyfin homepage > settings > playback > advanced playback > use external player then when I'm done with that show or what have you I have to go all the way back to toggle it off to make sure I keep things like playback times sync'd etc.

I'd like to humbly request it to come back to prod.

There was never a feature to set a player type per item and there are no plans to implement such a thing either. The only thing that comes to mind is the player-selector (which would not persist the choice) which is removed as it was not user friendly and an annoyance to maintain with the ongoing refactoring of playback related code.

I've looked into the 'why' you gave when removing LibVLC.
However can we not get an advanced menu item to put the selection back at the detail view of an item?
It was way more user friendly; as without it, the process to toggle between the external vs internal player is really annoying.
