Only first half of all pixels work in 16 channels mode, 8 channels mode works good #5

Hey! Thank you so much for this project and sharing the code. It brilliant!
I got to work it with 8 channels, but setting it to 16 channels makes it light only half of all pixels (in both test mode and with provided rgb values). So with different X number of pixels only the first X/2 pixels work.
Do you have any suggestions how to fix it please?

I'm quite satisfied with this post. All the comments have been helpful.
Though I'm still looking for more documentation about SMI Interface. Since I've tried to switch on more than 300 neopixels in 16-Channel mode and it's not working as it does. If there are some suggestions about this issue or a bit more informations about SMI on Raspberry Pi 4, it will be interesting. Thanks in advance

@muele, jbentham updated his code with a better solution. If it's still not working, I'd suggest pulling my patch out and running his in.
