The transform module is, currently, a bit of a mess. Come up with a good plan for it going forward.

This has been partially addressed now. nucleus.transforms is in a better place now. However this will remain open for the time being. The plan now is to start using it and ,provided everything runs as expected, make a last pass through it to fix any of the remaining hacks.
