Imbed the Sitemap into Ecwid Joomla component #12

After working on this some more I found that I could simply add a "second" sitemap to my primary site in Google Search-Console.

However, it would be much better if the Ecwid SiteMap simply be accessible from within the Store location in Joomla.

For instance my ecwid site has https://examplestore.com/store
however, https://examplestore/store/store_sitemap.xml does not resolve. It would seem that it could.

I was able to upload the downloaded sitemap to https://examplestore/files/store_sitemap.xml . I also added a little styling to the header and it worked. That said, I don't want to have to upload a new sitemap every day.

The other Joomla sitemaps I have tested for the rest of the Joomla Site are instantaneously updating (OSMAP and JSITEMAP).

Anyway, I do have a sitemap loaded and should be able to keep on project.

Thanks for your work on this.

Hello,
As I understand things, sitemaps must be located in the root directory of the website for Google to index them. If the website is large, or with an Ecwid store sitemap and a website sitemap, the index_sitemap.xml directs to those other sitemaps.
That said, the index_sitemap.xml necessarily would need to be in the root directory. It seems your Ecwid store_sitemap.xml could them possibly be located in the store’s directory, contingent upon it being pointed to from the site map located in the root directory where Google looks to find it.

I will check. I uploaded one directory up ie "rootdirectory/files/store_sitemap.xml". I informed Google of the location and it seemed to take. I need to find out if the Ecwid URL's show up now.

As I could envision it, these could be your sitemaps:
www.example.com/index_sitemap.xml
www.example.com/files/sitemap.xml
www.example.com/store/store_sitemap.xml
et cetera, should there be the need to have others.
The index_sitemap.xml is the one that points to all the other location of sitemaps.

With this configuration in the root directory, there is no need to tell the search engines where to find the sitemaps. Google is the only search engine, I know of that has the Search Console to designate the locations.
