Use with Arduino Yun?

I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the process for installing LininoOS/LininoIO on a Yun. I've attempted to follow the instructions posted here: http://linino.org/doku.php?id=wiki:upgradetolininoio twice:

1. Resulted in my Yun being completely non-responsive (no wifi, no ethernet connection, no serial ports... nothing). FTR, I had this Yun for about 3 hours before this happened and I'm not happy about this outcome.
2. Resulted in nothing, because nothing works the way it's described in this step: http://wiki.linino.org/doku.php?id=wiki:upgradetolininoio#u-boot_prompt nothing happens when I type "lin".

Yun currently:

• OpenWrt-Yun 1.5.3
• Expanded Disk
