Hi i3mla developers,

I am very interested in learning how to process IceCube data. Since I already have experience with 3ML, discovering i3mla feels like finding a treasure! However, I am unsure how to get started. Could you please let me know if there are any tutorial documents or guides for downloading and analyzing IceCube data using i3mla?

Thank you so much for creating this tool and for any guidance you can provide!

Best regards,
Wenyu Cao

Hi Wenyu

Currently, i3mla only support IceCube internal data. If you want to use the public data, the easiest way is to generate an Event-level Monte Carlo samples(as a numpy structure array) using the Instrument response functions (IRFs) included the public data release. It can be done by sampling from the IRFs and create a large enough MC. It is a workaround that is simplest to achieve. You might also need to rename some of the columns in the data in order to read them correctly.

Dear Jason,

Thank you very much for your prompt and helpful response! I appreciate the clarification regarding the usage of public data with i3mla. Your suggestion sounds like a practical solution. I will follow your advice and try to create the MC samples accordingly.

Thanks again for your guidance.

Best regards,
Wenyu Cao
