npm format error for help

Hi,
On z/OS, when I try the following command:

npm help npm

I get (after a little flash - this is logging into USS via PuTTY):

FSUMF061 Cannot format /usr/lpp/Node.js/lib/node_modules/npm/man/man1/npm.1

If I try the same via TSO OMVS, I see the following:

-Ý?25lÝ-Ý90m..................-Ý0m¨ \ : -Ý34;40mverb-Ý0m -Ý35mconfig-Ý0m Skippin
-ÝK-Ý?25hFSUMF061 Cannot format /usr/lpp/Node.js/lib/node_modules/npm/man/man1/n
