If appropriate, the information in the README might be better in the RTD site.

To get started on this issue, see the instructions in the documentation for improving the documentation.

As a first step, it would be good to identify what we would like to leave in the README and what would be better served in the RTD site. This might need a discussion for us to decide, or there might be guidelines somewhere out there.

The actual moving of the information over should be much easier.
