Track Chrome extension usage #1623

The problem
While we can use the chrome store data to track:

  • weekly chrome extension users,
  • weekly chrome extension installs,
  • and uninstalls,

...we can't tell if the data has artifacts or how it's calculated. We should be tracking these ourselves if possible. This will allow us to get better insights into our chrome extension usage. For example, seeing these patterns might help unearth EDU usage.

The solution
One possible solution for weekly extension uses is to track the number of browsers who are pinging the badge. Installs and uninstalls may need more investigation to solve.
