Morpheus can subscribe to ANCS (Apple Notification Center Service) to receive iOS notifications, and therefore determine when the phone is active during the night. Morpheus can then correlate times and types of notifications with its own data to determine sleep quality.

ANCS documentation is here:

https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/CoreBluetooth/Reference/AppleNotificationCenterServiceSpecification/Introduction/Introduction.html

Another related issue that needs its own ticket is that the Morpheus app on iOS may be able to use the M7 processor on an iPhone 5s+ to figure out when the last use of the phone was at night.
