Overview

We need to get regular updates on team members' progress with issues, so that we can remove any obstacles by offering advice/feedback/help or (if a member is no longer available to work on the issue) by re-assigning it.

Action Items

  • Before every PD: All meeting, search for all is:open issues on the PD project board
  • Copy the message template below, customize, and message everyone who has is:open issues assigned to them via GitHub
  • If they're no longer able or available to continue working on an issue:
    • De-assign them from the issue
    • Label it ready for X lead so it can be re-assigned to others
  • If they need to take some time off, encourage them to leave the project and come back when they're ready
    • Ask them to document their work to date before they leave
  • PM to gather responses and informally prioritize them for discussion
  • Make sure progress update discussion points are on the agenda for the next meeting

Message template

@[insert github handle] Hi [name],
So that we can keep the PeopleDepot project moving forwards, please could you provide a brief update on progress with the open PeopleDepot issues assigned to you, by answering these questions:
1. Progress: "What's the current status of your work on this issue? What have you completed and what's left to do?"
2. Blockers: "Have you encountered any difficulties or errors that are blocking your work on this issue?"
3. Availability: "How much time will you have this week to work on this issue?"
4. ETA: "When do you expect this issue to be completed?"
5. If necessary, add any pictures that will help illustrate what you're working on.
