This was an awesome adventure for more than 4 years and it took the better part of my life outside work to be done and maintained. However, all things must come to an end and this is one of those times.
I started contributing to this plugin as I was learning Go and IntelliJ IDEA was (and still is) the IDE that I cannot imagine life without. I understand that some of you may read this and be upset or even frustrated. Please understand that for more than 4 years I've not received any sort of support for maintaining this, and with the exception of a few contributors that I can count on the fingers of one hand with fingers to spare, there were very few constant contributors to this adventure. Yet everyone now seems very upset that the plugin is no longer maintained. You will have to deal with it, just how I dealt with countless sleepless nights learning Java, the IntelliJ Platform, GDB (and it's protocol), and so much more without even getting a simple: Thank you! (yet now I have a lot of down-votes and hate mail coming in, the irony). I've not worked on this for fame, glory, money or anything else that pure interest on how things work. Now I have other challenges to face.
JetBrains officially released their Go IDE, GoLand which is basically WebStorm + Go support, and as such it renders the efforts behind building this plugin even harder than before since I cannot match the speed or knowledge of their team. If you want a high quality Go development environment, then please use that instead or one of the alternatives out there, there are plenty of editors that support Go as opposed to what the landscape looked like in 2013.
A warm thank you to all of the contributors from a single typo fix to more complex ones. Your contributions are highly appreciated.
Good luck with your Go adventures.
Kind regards,
Florin
