I'm extremely sorry for the late reply @sohamd3! I like the first one - but can you try making a flat version of the same logo. Imagine something like a Flat G (like the G in Google) and then the same paintbrush concept. The reason I'm saying this is because we're going to make a move to the Flat UI framework, and it will be a smooth mix with it. Thanks for your work so far! |

I agree with Sarup - it'll be difficult to make such detailed logos work well at small sizes, such as favicon size. However, I do like them - just be careful if you're continuing with the G theme that it doesn't evoke google at all. ;) |

@sohamd3 it looks cute! Although I'd like to see how this would appear on small sizes. Also, can you try making the G without the fiery detail? Like a plain G in the Google? Don't worry about the color yet, we'll figure that out :-) When you have the time, try to experiment with the Glitterfox too ;) Look at GitHub's octocat for a good inspiration on using a mascot as a logo graphic. Yeah, try simplifying the design a bit more. Also, I think it would work better without the stroke. I like the idea of incorporating a mascot - although a mascot doesn't necessarily have to be included in a logo. I think it would be worthwhile to explore illustrating the gallery part of glitter gallery. It's maybe a bit cliche, but frames, or arrangements of squares might be a nice graphic motif to include in the logo. |

It's better, but it's not quite there yet. Are you trying to make them look hand drawn? They're giving me that impression, but I'm not sure if it's intended or not. I'd also work on making the boxes more of a part of the design - they're just kind of chilling in the corner there, and don't really look like they fit in with the rest of the logo. |

Yeah I agree with the boxes chilling in the corner. About the G itself, again, can you experiment with something simpler? Try out few available fonts maybe? |

I'm not trying to design the logo for you, but I did want to give you some more ideas/inspiration, especially with the whole boxes concept. I'm attaching two different concepts that integrate the boxes and the letterform, just to give you an idea of what I mean by making the boxes a part of the design. They start from the same idea, but feel very different. There's about a million more ways you could design this same concept, so just take this as inspiration. :) You'll notice I also included a horizontal version, and a single color version for both logos. These are commonly required logo variations, so keep that in mind when you're designing.

Hi, The idea is to have some different sized squares like a canvas collection, stacked on top of each others to give a gallery depth effect. The white outline is useful to see the outline shape at small sizes, and to give a painting feeling at bigger sizes.

Hi @EmilyDirsh, I think we missed out on this thread for a long time now! When you're around, could you please look at Tim's work? @sohamd3 I'm not really sure what you tried to do here with the squares, I feel the entire thing is disconnected in some way. You could probably experiment with shrinking the vertical height of the image a bit. |

Also, my own SVG skills are terrible, I tried to tinker around some. Suggestions? It's incomplete now though, I wanted to make the thing on the left to be a Git branch with a paintbrush, if you get what I mean.. If you think this might work and want to help with the SVG, just email me! :) |

Logos are hard. :) A good logo has to encapsulate an entire product in a relatively small graphic. It needs to be able to have variants such as vertical, horizontal, desaturated, and single color without losing its meaning. It needs to look good both at large sizes and small sizes - digitally and printed. There's no hurry, so I'd like to encourage everyone who has submitted to keep trying. I really appreciate all the work you're putting into the logo, but none of the examples so far really comes together to form a cohesive identity. When you're working on a logo, consider the constraints I mentioned above. Consider how it represents the project - both through meaning and aesthetics. Get inspired by great logos you've seen before. And most of all, just keep trying! Any professional logo creator will have pages upon pages of concept sketches, but only one ends up being the actual logo, so you're in good company! :) |

Nope don't think so. I agree with you, maybe once we have a design team demo out, we could open a trac ticket for someone in fedora design to take up (at least for the fedora instance). |
We need a logo for GlitterGallery that reflects what it does. Involving the glitterfox somewhere would be great.
