Plugins for target languages

I would like to implement an AVRO schema target for quicktype, my options as I see them are:

1. Create a package that uses quicktype and injects the AVRO target.
2. Contribute it here.

The second option is maybe better in the long run but the first is better to get things going. Are there options I'm missing? If not then maybe this should be an idea instead of a Q&A.
