Members of the same family might be using a single laptop and only have one installation of the running challenges extension. Would be useful to be able to switch user within the same instance or have multiple users at once.

Would require significant re-structuring of the extension.

You can multiple profiles on Chrome. See here.
I guess this keeps instances of extensions and settings separate too.
