In the recipe for the Android app, BloomReader, Ketarin can fetch the latest version OK, but when I look at the recipe in the Ketarin editor, open the Variables editor and click the variable "version", the version editor hangs trying to download

The progress bar blobs stop moving. I can't cancel the download, neither with the Cancel button nor with the X button. I have to kill the whole Ketarin program. I think the Cancel button should work.

Ketarin version is Ketarin-Mono-1.0.43

A similar hang while loading a page from github, but this one completed the load after about a minute and displayed the text properly.

IIRC, the loading dialog doesn't disappear because the screen isn't redrawn -- that is, the dialog isn't really there anymore, which is why clicking on the buttons doesn't do anything. The problem I saw before was the population (and coloration) of the text area, which may take a very long time. See also issue #22.
