At the moment, it's not super clear what my status is after I've registered - am I logged in? Do I still need to login?

If the latter, you might consider automatically logging the user in after registration. It's a bit annoying to have to enter all your details twice if you're impatient like me and just wanna tell the world how much I want to go kayaking 🛶
