Not all instances are limited to 500 characters.
In order to have a feed that's still easily srollable, longer posts are usually "cut" after 500characters and a button allows user to unfold the message and read it entirely.

It would be nice to have this on Elk as well 😃

Thanks, this issue is duplicated with #2860. We already have a work-in-progress PR #3086. I'm not sure but maybe there's some difficulty in calculating the post length in Elk.

The above examples would help to refine the PR👍🏻 I'm going to comment about this issue on #2860.
