This site should contain instructions about how to perform common tasks.

Many ELISA working groups have repositories on GitHub.
While many ELISA participants, especially those who develop code professionally,
have extensive git and GitHub experience,
some have no or just tangential experience.
There are also different approaches to collaborative work with git and on GitHub.

A common GitHub contribution workflow should be defined and documented so that

  • Each working group does not need to define its own workflow
  • Critical requirements on submissions are known in advance and not missed
  • Problems due to incorrect git actions are minimised
  • The reasons for the workflow steps and the effects of not following them are well understood

This relates to elisa-tech/wg-automotive#28

The related PR provides an extensive and long description. It may make sense to have a strip down version for the first starts. Similar as provided in the wg-automotive section. It may be a user story based on a typical interaction and commiting to the repo.
