Local automute entering a Room and Reminder if not Transmitting

As we discussed before, Intervallic Jamming is not real time, so although it’s possible to start sending your signal as soon as you enter a room, it is not a good practice.

This is because the other’s signals do not reach your computer immediately. Remember the intervals have to be streamed to your client and will start playing in the next loop. This means that the first 20 to 60 seconds after you enter the room in average you will hear silence. But as you may have guessed, the jam is already going on.

To prevent sending unwanted sounds, Jamtaba handles this automatically and doesn’t transmit you signal the first two intervals. You can choose to warm up or check your levels at this time because others will not hear you (Yellow Xmit button). Once the initial phase is completed, the Transmit button will turn Green and you’re sound will begin to be sent to the room.

As a rule of thumb, when you enter a server you can be sure no one can hear what you are playing until you start to hear them play (two complete BPI cycles after you enter).

  • Reminder if not transmitting for a long time:

If you turn off transmit for a long period of time while connected to a server, Jamtaba will remind you of this in case you thought you were actually sending audio to the room by blinking the XMIT button:

Just click the XMIT button to transmit again and the bliking will stop.

NOTE: To disable the warning or change the default interval see Appendix
