Problem

by default the maximum volume is very quiet. you have to download a third party app to increase it. also a problem with the headset. when i plug a headset into my laptop it doesn't automatically switch to the input i.e. microphone, even when i go into settings and change it to headphone mic it still defaults to the laptop next time. it is very inconvenient.

Proposal

add default device settings and the ability to change the volume above.

Please raise a separate issue regarding persisting the input setting; each report should be focused on only one issue.

I presume the maximum volume setting is intended to protect hearing and avoid distortion, but I agree that for some media inputs and some output devices it is too quiet. A native facility to override the maximum (with suitable safeguards) would be nice.
