Night light: manual mode works unpredictably #83
Comments
It might be the color daemon the one that's not working properly... might be getting stuck on suspend? |
My manual schedule is 1am to 11pm, but I've currently selected "Sunset to sunrise". My screen is still orange all day unless I snooze it. Something seems to get out of sync here. |
The displays plug doesn't actually implement any of this backend. All it does is set the gsettings for the nightlight daemon in GSD. So if you can reproduce an issue where the settings UI is out of sync with gsettings, then it's a bug here. Otherwise, it's out of scope for the displays plug and a bug in GSD or Gala or some other component |
Closing this report as "incomplete" since there hasn't been any follow up |
Hi @danrabbit , I just tested it and can confirm that this is still an issue for me. I set several manual times for it during the day, but Night Light didn't work/start. How can I find out if the settings UI is out of sync with GSettings? Or whether it's a bug with Gala or GSD? |
Reopening this. I'm also seeing bugs where Night Light does not activate when it should. |
Thanks for reopening, I am convinced that we will find a solution! |
A question, even if it is not directly part of the issue. How are the settings for the "Sunset to Sunrise"? mode set and activated? |
Related to wingpanel-indicator-nightlight/#32, where the submitter wants to set nightlight to run all the time, but the current settings are unpredictable. |
I've set the Night Light to be enabled and I set it's mode as manual from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The night light sometimes does appear, but mostly not. Not sure what causes that (missing indicator?) Restarting gala in this time window actually makes the effect appear correctly.
