slogans

"use protective gear"
"minimize surface contact"
"keep physical distance with people"
"minimize leaving home"
"know your facts"
"quarantine immediately if in doubt"

illustrations

All illustrations are line drawings. In the style this creator.

"use protective gear" is a person where breathing mask, protective goggles and gloves are highlighted. There is a label leading to the mask that says "N95"

"minimize surface contact" is a hand and some kind of surface that highlights that the two should not touch. The hand has the same glove as in the first illustration. There is label pointing to surface that says "virus can stay for several days"

"keep physical distance with people" is two people where they are both smiling and are roughly 2 meter apart, and there is indication that the distance is 2 meters.

"minimize leaving home" is a person who looks like they are enjoying their time in their home. Maybe relaxing on the sofa with a smile on their face.

"know your facts" is a person who has just clearly understood something, maybe with speech bubble and the exclamation mark or similar.

"quarantine immediately if in doubt" (QUESTION: how should this be?)

""quarantine immediately if in doubt": Thought Bubble where the virus is in the lungs? Or person coughing? Or both?

The surface could be a door handle, which is the most common thing to touch by many. Shopping trolley is good also.

Should we use FFP2 or FFP3 in addition to N95 as well? If I understand correctly one is used in US and the other in Europe

Maybe quarantine can be visualised by person walking through a door and closing it?

There exists some danger in mentioning stuff that are not available to even hospitals in amounts needed: https://www.propublica.org/article/as-doctors-and-nurses-grow-desperate-for-protective-gear-they-fear-infecting-patients

Gavin also said the ER at the time didn’t have gowns or N95 respirator masks designed to protect medical providers from airborne particles and liquids.
“No, no, we didn’t have any of that,” he said. “They offered us paper face masks, that’s it.”
Gavin later joked that wearing a paper mask was like “putting up chicken wire on your windows to keep the mosquitos out.”
"Confusion and concerns around supplies extend well beyond Amite. Given the nationwide supply shortages, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently downgraded its guidelines for how health workers should protect themselves, allowing them to use surgical masks instead of N95 respirator masks in many cases. And this week, the CDC went further, publishing directions that providers “might use homemade masks” like a bandanna or scarf if no masks are available."

I drafter some bullet points under each of the slogans:

1 "Use protective gear"
DO:

  • Use facemasks if you have them available
  • Use disposable gloves, but only if you know how to use them the proper way and for one-time usage
  • Learn the proper ways to use them, do not touch your face with your hands or gloves
  • If you do not have gloves, use eg. paper tissues for touching handles, etc. and throw them away after 1 use
  • If you do not have facemasks, use e.g. scarf in front of your mouth
    DO NOT:
  • Hoard for protection and thus deny it from others
  • Use disposable gloves long and thus spread the virus to many places
  • Touch your eyes or mouth when positioning your facemask or scarf

2 "Minimize surface contact"
DO:

  • Avoid touching things outside your home
  • Especially avoid touching the same things that many other people touch: handles, shopping trolleys, etc.
  • Wear one-time protection (gloves or paper tissues) when you have to touch something
    DO NOT:
  • When coming to the home, use hands (or dirty gloves) to touch door handles before you have washed your hands.

3 "Keep physical distance with people"
DO:

  • Keep a distance of approximately 2 meters or 7 feet in public places (CORRECT???).
  • Prefer staying home whenever you can.
    DO NOT:
  • Spread the virus by having close contacts that you could avoid.

4 "Minimize leaving home"
DO:

  • Keep your home clean from virus
  • Get food and essentials delivered
  • Understand that avoiding contacts protects yourself and also other people
    DO NOT:
  • Have visitors inside
  • Take packages from delivers’ hands, instead leave them to the floor for hours and handle with care

5 "Know your facts"
DO:

  • Learn about proper hygiene like hand washing routines
  • Teach others about how the virus can spread from surfaces and close contact
    DO NOT:
  • Spread misinformation or rumors

6 "Quarantine immediately if in doubt"
DO:

  • Keep yourself in more quarantine if you have mild symptoms like you were in flu
  • Contact healthcare, if you have bad symptoms, like shortness of breath
  • The quarantine should be at least 14 days (CORRECT????)
    DO NOT:
  • Go outside when you have even really mild symptoms, you might spread the virus

This is needed also like discussed in Discord:

Stop touching your face
DO:

  • Understand that we have a habit of touching our faces
  • By becoming conscious of this habit you can minimize it
  • This is especially important outside your home
    DO NOT:
  • Think that wearing gloves or mask protects you from touching your face

The length of self-quarantine: at least to news articles in Finland and US, it is currently 14 days (EDIT: I would prefer personally "in case of having symptoms, 14 days of being without symptoms", while media has information eg "If you have cold and flu-like symptoms, you should isolate yourself from others for the duration of your symptoms, which could be up to 14 days.").

The length of "social distancing": in US articles mentioned 6 feet, in Finland 1,5 - 2 meters (yle.fi). So 6 feet and 2 meters seem to be quite appropriate for our instructions?

@mikkokotila @sidrun Do you have the pictures needed for illustrations?

I think we should have the pictures tomorrow. I can say it did not turn out so well. It was the poorest quality work I've gotten from fiverr so far. Not terrible, but not amazing.
