Propositions for geospatial data available in WMS in various servers, to add in the application (in order of interest for me):

Tuna RFMOs areas of competence by FAO: http://www.fao.org/figis/geoserver/factsheets/rfbs.html

Longhurst Biogeographical Provinces http://www.marineregions.org/webservices.php
Longhurst areas are often used in scientific works related to tuna (stock assessments, etc.)

Marine Protected Areas Atlas by Marine Conservation Institute: http://www.mpatlas.org/map/mpas/
To overlay tuna fisheries catch with MPA

Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems by FAO: http://www.fao.org/figis/geoserver/factsheets/vme.html
To overlay tuna fisheries catch with VME

Aquatic species distribution by FAO: http://www.fao.org/figis/geoserver/factsheets/species.html
To overlay species fishing area with area of presence and compare both products (answer questions such as: is a given species fished in its entire area of presence?)

Marine Ecoregions of the World by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF): https://www.worldwildlife.org/publications/marine-ecoregions-of-the-world-a-bioregionalization-of-coastal-and-shelf-areas
This dataset seems to be available in shp but not through WMS protocol

Gebco (bathymetry): http://www.gebco.net/data_and_products/gebco_web_services/web_map_service/
