Problems that we see in today's mainstream CMSes:

Slow (e.g. Wordpress)
All or nothing, i.e. you cannot choose what parts of the CMS you want to use
Hard to customise and theme for non technical users (or even for programmers that are used to work with different languages)

What are we aiming for with Vox:

Speed - using technologies that privilege speed
Modularity - allowing the user to decide what to use (e.g. only backend)
Ease of use for non programmers - it should be possible to customise many areas of the CMS without having to write in any specific programming language
