How to fix: "PL2303HXA PHASED OUT SINCE 2012. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPLIER" #8
-
You've installed the PL2303 driver that came with the X-Dream software in Windows 10 so that it can communicate with the X-Dream bike. But you get this in Device Manager: What to do? |

To fix this, you need to restore the version of the driver that was supplied with the X-Dream software. To do this, right click the device and select Update driver: Then “Browse my computer for drivers”: Then “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer” Select version a pre-2012 version from the list and click Next. Hopefully this will be successful. Click the close button. If it does not indicate that it is using COM2 you will need to configure it as before. At this point, maybe after a restart, you should be able to turn on the X-Dream bike and use the “XDream Test” console application to show that the X-Dream bike and computer are communicating. |

Suddenly my PL2303 driver was removed by Windows 10. Has anyone have the same issue? |

In release 1.4.0, I've added a new feature to provide advice on the group policy situation. Click the "Driver" button: This will read the registry to make an assessment about the Group Policy state. If the current state of the registry is due to edits that have taken place since the last system reboot, it may be necessary to restart the machine before the opinion offered by this utility is accurate. Although this utility reads the registry, it cannot write to it. In the future I may add the facility to reconfigure this by calling the Windows REG.EXE utility with a generated registry script, but running it would prompt the user for admin approval. |
