fileicon symbols do not display correctly after restarting emacs

I am using spacemacs and whenever I enter symbols from fileicon, they change to incorrect ones after a restart.

Another weird thing I observed was that when I place the cursor on the line, the symbols revert back to the correct one while the cursor is on the line :

What might be causing this ?

Do you have another font installed that has inserted glyphs in the Private Use Area? Do you have any code or packages that mess with the text properties? How did you insert these icons? What mode is the buffer in? I need more information.
