Description

I am using Docker for Mac (Team).
When I try to mount a single file using Synchronized file shares, it fails.
It is possible to mount a directory.

Reproduce

  1. mkdir test
  2. cd test
  3. echo hogehoge > ./file
  4. Add test directory to Synchronized file share configuration
  5. docker run --rm -v ./file:/app/file nginx:1.27-alpine -- cat /app/file
  • This operation will fail.
  • This is the unexpected behavior.

Error messages.

docker: Error response from daemon: Mounts denied:
The path /Users/hoge/test/file is not shared from the host and is not known to Docker.
You can configure shared paths from Docker -> Preferences... -> Resources -> File Sharing.
See https://docs.docker.com/desktop/settings/mac/#file-sharing for more info.

However, the directory mount will be successful.
This is the expected behavior.

docker run --rm -v ./:/app/ nginx:1.27-alpine -- cat /app/file

Expected behavior

I expect that I will be able to mount a single file as a volume by "synchronized file shares".

The problem with docker on mac is the corruption by the compose builder of your certificats CA and the deamons are a gap into your security the only way is to VM all and isolate it from your system, I has been needing more then 6 monts to understand from hub to local that docker isnt made for us MAC user but instead to use all the tools possible to avoid to let DOCKER change your system config and lead to conflits each time
