User Story

As a UX researcher on the AEDP team,
I want to conduct a user research study for our pattern,
So that we can observe user interactions and gather raw feedback for analysis.

Background

The Baseball Card pattern aims to help Veterans quickly understand their current benefits and discover additional benefits they may be eligible for. Conducting a research study is critical to evaluate the usability, effectiveness, and accessibility of the pattern. Observing user behavior and collecting feedback during testing sessions will provide the data needed for synthesis and insights.

Goals

  • Observe how users interact with the prototype to capture raw behavioral and verbal feedback.
  • Identify any immediate usability barriers or accessibility challenges.
  • Gather qualitative feedback on layout, content, and functionality for further analysis.

Deliverables

  • Completed research sessions with all recruited participants.
  • Recorded research sessions for subsequent analysis.
  • Initial observations logged during the sessions.

Acceptance Criteria

  • All scheduled research sessions have been conducted.
  • Research sessions have been recorded and saved for analysis.
  • Immediate usability issues or observations are logged for team awareness.

Constraints & Considerations

  • Ensure diverse representation among participants, including Veterans with varying benefit statuses and accessibility needs.
  • Test both desktop and mobile experiences where applicable.
  • Address any unforeseen technical or logistical challenges during sessions.

Review needed by

  • UX Research Team
  • Product Manager
  • VA Product Owner

Definition of Done

  • Documentation has been updated, if applicable.
  • Acceptance Criteria in related issue are met.
  • Reviewers have approved.
