User Story

As a member of the AEDP research team,
I want to create a research plan and participant recruiting plan
So that we have a clear roadmap for testing the Baseball Card pattern and can secure the right participants efficiently.

Background

To validate the "Baseball Card" pattern, we need to document a detailed research plan, including testing methods, a conversation guide, and participant screener questions and requirements. Additionally, a recruiting plan will help us identify and secure participants who represent the diverse needs of Veterans, including those with accessibility needs, varying levels of digital literacy, and benefit statuses.

Discovery Goals

  • Outline a research plan to ensure clear testing objectives and timelines.
  • Define criteria for participant recruitment that align with user types and needs.
  • Develop communication templates for outreach and screening.

Questions to Answer

  • What are the key steps and milestones in the research plan (e.g., testing types, tools, and review timelines)?
  • What Veteran personas or segments do we need to include in testing?
  • How will we recruit participants efficiently and inclusively (e.g., assistive tech users, varied benefit statuses)?
  • What tools or resources are needed to execute the research plan and recruitment?

Resources

Deliverables

  • A documented research plan with:
    • Testing objectives
    • Methodologies (usability, A/B testing, accessibility testing)
  • A participant recruiting plan with:
    • User segments and inclusion criteria
    • Screening questions or templates
    • Outreach methods or tools for securing participants
  • A conversation guide for the research study, including:
    • Discussion questions
    • Research tasks for participants
    • Probing questions for deeper insights

Acceptance Criteria

  • A research plan has been created and shared with stakeholders for review.
  • A recruiting plan has been documented, including user segments and inclusion criteria.
  • Screening questions or templates for participant selection are created.
  • A conversation guide has been drafted and reviewed for the research study.
  • Tools or vendors for participant recruitment are identified.

Constraints & Considerations

  • Testing must include assistive technology users and users with varying benefit statuses.

Review needed by

  • VA Product Owner
  • Product Manager
  • UX Research Team

Definition of Done

  • Acceptance Criteria in related issue are met.
  • Reviewers have approved.
