I like how the idea looks at User Generated content in the form of video, however I had a few points which I thought might help augment your idea:

  • Categorization of News: How will the news categorizion take place (both for the people moderating the videos before publishing as well as the end users who are consuming the content) e.g. sports, current affairs, politics, entertainment, business etc.
  • Safeguards for spamming: How do you cater to spamming or malicious content? Can you have a contribution limit per user? Do you get contributor ratings?
  • Video Refresh Rate: Will there be a limit to the news videos being hosted such as in snapchat.. where all videos go down after 24 hours or can it be refreshed? Will the content be stored in a library like youtube where it can be accessed later on and searched (a repository of headlines even) or will it be more dynamic and fast paced (given your target audience?) – note: if you follow a 24 hour model, and the content contributions dry up – it can leave the application empty
  • Viewer Rating Scale: Much like the viewer discretion ratings for movies and tv shows, will you have a viewer rating scale which categorizes content viewer discretion e.g. mature (M) parental guidance (PG) etc. – for a more socially responsible mechanism for news consumption
