I have tried it all:

  • devices are not connected to anything anymore
  • reset by battery out
  • a) HASS is recognizing them, can add them, but no connection is made
  • b) set in pairing mode, HASS is recognizing them, can add them, but no connection is made
  • c) adding by MAC adress worked too, but same result
Easy way of entering pair code in connection flow?

Do you have btproxys or more than one Bluetooth adapter configured?

I had this issue with an EQ3 that I ended up replacing, so it may be broken.

You may want to try telling bluetoothctl to forget the device completely, then doing a factory reset in the eq3 (see the device's manual) and then starting over.

I had the same problem - bluetoothctl did just not prompt for a PIN. Deleting the pairing in the bluetooth settings in my phone fixed it. Thanks!
