Gbros clone IFYOO WAX1 in X-input mode, pairs and works but disconnects after a minute, cannot maintain pairing

I tried using a Gbros clone called the IFYOO WAX1. I was surprised that it paired in X-input mode and worked well but it can't maintain the pairing and disconnects after about 30 seconds to a minute. Is there some way to force it to maintain the pairing? It's strange that the ESP32 connects to it but then the device acts like it is still trying to connect even though the inputs all work.
